Randolph SAAC to Begin Equipment Drive
LYNCHBURG, VA – This year, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) of every member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) is reaching out to their respective communities to collect equipment. With that initiative in place, the Randolph College SAAC will begin that endeavor next week.
This initiative is being run in conjunction with DIII Week, which runs from April 3-9. DIII Week celebrates everything that student-athletes at Division III institutions focus on. While academics and athletics are two of largest areas, community service and helping others out is just as important. That is why the SAAC will be collecting different athletic gear to donate to children of any age.
All of the donations will be given to a non-profit organization called Leveling the Playing Field (LPF). LPF will then distribute the equipment to underprivileged children in order to give them the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of athletic involvement that otherwise they could not afford. You can read more on LPF by clicking this link: http://www.levelingtheplayingfield.org.
A collection box will be placed in the RAD Center starting on Monday, and other locations may also happen throughout campus.
So if you have any athletic gear that you are not using anymore, please donate them to this wonderful cause. The kids will be extremely greatful.
