Each week, Randolph Athletics showcases a question and answer with the WildCat of the Week. This week it is a sophomore from the men's basketball team Justin Dula.
Dula was selected the ODAC Player of the Week on Monday. He averaged 14.5 points and 12 rebounds while handing out six assists against just one turnover over two games. He opened with a career-best 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from the line in an 89-79 win at Greensboro College. He added eight boards and three assists. Against Bridgewater, he pulled down 16 boards to help Randolph post a 74-73 victory. He registered nine points and handed out three assists. For the season, Dula is averaging 10.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, the latter number ranking eighth in the ODAC.
Going into this season, what have you worked on to improve from last year?
The two main things I wanted to work on were getting more comfortable shooting midrange and shooting free throws because those were areas I struggled with last season.
How do you get mentally ready for a game?
Typically before a home game I come down to the RAD early to roll out and get my body ready and look over the game's scouting report. After that, I go to the gym to get shots up. During the national anthem I say a prayer to myself and then I'm ready to go.
What goals have you set for yourself this year?
The goal I've set out for this season is to help lead our team back to Salem for ODACS!
What do you like about being at Randolph?
I like Randolph because it's a safe environment. Everyone is friendly and your professors all know you on a first name basis because of the class size so it's easy to talk to them when you need help.
