Matthews Earns Spot on All-ODAC

FOREST, VA – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its 2017 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference teams on Thursday.  The Randolph College men's lacrosse team placed one member on the All-ODAC teams, with Spencer Matthews receiving a spot on the Third-Team.

Matthews had a tremendous final season for the WildCats.  He became the top option for the team on the defensive side of the ball, and was routinely matched up against the top attack from opposing teams.  Matthews thrived in that role as he led the ODAC in caused turnovers with 39.  He also scooped up 53 ground balls, tying him for 16th in the league.

Matthews menaced opposition throughout the year as a true sportsman.  He never acted out and led his team well.  For his great sportsmanship, he was named to the Ray Rostan Sportsmanship Team.

Matthews finished his career with 88 caused turnovers and 173 ground balls, which are third and fifth respectively in the history of the program.  It is even more impressive in the fact that he started playing lacrosse as a sophomore.
