LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's lacrosse team hosted Roanoke in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons controlled the game from the onset as they defeated the WildCats 25-3.

The 'Cats did control possession from the opening faceoff and were able to put up a pair of shots. The Maroon had their chance with consecutive chances by Garrit Schwarz but Randolph goalie Matt Lindenbaum (Reisertown, Md./Franklin) denied both attempts. The WildCats had a man-up opportunity when a slashing penalty was called on Roanoke's Conn Curry but it went for naught. Lindenbaum turned back another Roanoke shot to keep the game scoreless. Erik Gulbronson's (Fenwick Island, DE/Indian River) turnover proved to be costly and Owen Curry was able to break through for the Maroons to give them a 1-0 lead with 7:22 remaining in the first quarter.

The Maroons added five more goals to take a 6-0 at the end of the first period. The WildCats were able to get on the scoreboard as Kadri Hearns (Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth) found the back of the net with 10:25 remaining in the second quarter. The Maroons tallied 12 goals in the stanza to lead 18-1 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Randolph scored on two man-up opportunities. Shane Shiflett (Westminster, Md./Westminster) scored off an assist from Dylan Bragg with just under 10 minutes left and Hearns scored unassisted with a little under eight minutes to go in the third.

Lindenbaum stopped nine shots in goal. He was relieved by James Stumpo (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) who came up with 11 saves. Seth Ahrens had two and Cory Boswell (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) finished with three.

Charles led the WildCats with six groundballs. Brett Pausic (Saluda, Va./Christchurch) picked up three.
