Men’s Soccer Heads to Roanoke for ODAC Quarterfinals

LYNCHBURG, Va.- For the 10th straight season, the Randolph men's soccer team has qualified for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. Head Coach Bryan Waggoner's squad will be aiming for its second overall title and first since 2011.

The WildCats will face host Roanoke this Saturday at Kerr Stadium. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.

How they Got Here: Randolph won three of its last four ODAC games to secure the #7 seed in the tournament. The WildCats clinched their spot on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory at Guilford. The Maroons are winners of their last eight contests all of which came in conference play.

Last Meeting: The two teams last met on October 18 in Roanoke.All three goals came in the first half as the Maroons held off the WildCats 2-1. The Randolph defense held firm in the second half as it held Roanoke without a shot on goal for the final 28 minutes. Starting WildCat goalkeeper Erick Cortez-Martinez had eight saves.

The WildCats: Frankie DiOrio and Adam Watson both have seven goals to lead Randolph. Cortez-Martinez has a 1.29 GAA in ODAC play with 21 saves.

The Maroons: Brandon Bauer and Cole Thornton have five goals each. Bauer also has five assists for a team-high 15 points. Nick Tadros has started all 18 games in goal and sports a 0.77 GAA with six shutouts to his credit.

ODAC Tournament History: Randolph has an 8-8 record in the ODAC Tournament while Roanoke's is 35-19-5. The two schools have met in 2012 and 2015 in the tournament. Roanoke won 3-0 in the first meeting on its way to the conference title while the 'Cats took the second meeting 2-1 in double OT.
