LEXINGTON, Va. – Trent Lawhorne (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) and Christopher Greene (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) each set a new school standard as the Randolph College men's track and field team concluded the first day of the VMI Winter Relays.
Lawhorne threw a weight throw mark of 11.60m, a .50 improvement from his recent throw at the Vince Brown Invitational last weekend to set a brand new school standard. Meanwhile, Greene jumped a length of 13.54m in the triple jump to defeat the previous record of 12.89m, which set by Tory Myrick last season.
Mitchell Doss (Gretna, Va./Gretna) also competed in the weight throw, earning a mark of 10.47m while DJ Petty (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) earned a spot in the semifinals of the 60 meter hurdles and the 60 meter sprint. Petty posted a time of 8.37 seconds in the hurdles, just missing a seat in the finals, before coming back to turn in a time of 7.07 seconds in the 60 meter sprint.
The WildCats are back tomorrow for the second and final day of the VMI Relays.
