Each week, Randolph Athletics showcases a question and answer with the WildCat of the Week. This week it is a senior from the track and field team DJ Petty.
This past weekend at the Bast Cregger Invitational at Roanoke College, Petty was the winner of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.44 seconds and was second in the 60 meter dash in under seven seconds at 6.98. He was also a part of the 4x200 meter relay team that set a new school record time of 1.36.76. In the preliminaries of the 60 meter dash, Petty posted a time of 6.92 seconds for a new Randolph record that is currently third in the nation.
Is there a favorite event that you like to compete in?
My favorite event is the hurdles. I love the aspect of running and having obstacles that you have to clear in your path.
What do you like most about Randolph?
I really like the class size here at Randolph. It's allowed me to become close to a lot of different people and the professors here get to know you on a personal level.
What are your post-graduation plans?
My post-graduation plans are to go to grad school and get my Masters in Athletic Training.
