LYNCHBURG, Va. – DJ Petty (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) became the second Randolph College track and field athlete in school history to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Petty will compete in the 110 meter hurdle event after turning in a time of 14.60 seconds at the NCAA Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet where he placed fourth in the field. Petty's time is currently tied for 17th in Division III.
During indoor season, Petty became the first Randolph athlete to not only qualify for the 2018-19 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, but compete in multiple events. This will be Petty's first trip to the outdoor championships but it is also Randolph's second appearance in three years. The senior follows in the footsteps of his former teammate Anthony Quinn '16, who was the first runner from Randolph's program to compete at the NCAA Outdoor meet, qualifying for the 110 hurdles race in 2016.
The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held Thursday-Friday, May 23-25 in Geneva, Ohio.
