Equestrian Takes First At Home Show

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph equestrian team hosted its first and only show of the spring season on Saturday afternoon. The WildCats came out on top as they totaled 35 points to edge out second place Bridgewater.

On the day, Caroline Houston (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Carly Stirewalt both had first-place results for the 'Cats. Houston was first in the Novice Flat while Stirewalt won in her Novice Flat class. Stirewalt was also second in both Immediate Flat and Fences. Houston was the Reserve Champion in the Novice Fences and won the Reserve High Point River of the day along with qualifying for Regionals. Michelle Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) placed third in the event. Abby Carpenter (Danville, Va./George Washington) was the Reserve Champion in the Walk Trot Canter. Kyle May, in his first IHSA show, placed second in the Walk Trot as did Charlotte Hudson.

Other results included Kirby Tidmore (Nashville, Tenn.) placing fourth in Open Fences, Alivia Kilroy (Pepperell, Mass./North Middlesex) fifth in Novice Fences, Rebecca Jones (Joshua, Texas/Joshua) fifth in Beginner Walk Trot Canter and Alexandra Geier (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal) sixth in Advanced Walk Trot Canter.

The WildCats compete at Hollins tomorrow starting at 11:00 a.m.
