LYNCHBURG, Va. The Randolph equestrian team competed in its final Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event for the month of February on Saturday. The WildCats continued their strong start to the spring season as they tied for first with the University of Virginia with 35 points.
There were three first place results for Randolph on the day. Caroline Houston (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was first in the Intermediate Jumps. Charlotte Hudson won the Walk Trot and Leia Stuart claimed the Novice Flat.
Michelle Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) was second in Novice Jumps and added a third place result in Novice Flat. Houston was also fourth in the Intermediate Flat while Kirby Tidmore (Nashville, Tenn.) was fourth in the Open Jumps and sixth in Open Flat. Houston was fourth in the Intermediate Flat. Raynah Roberts (Bristol, Va.) placed sixth in Novice Jumps. Abby Carpenter (Danville, Va./George Washington) came in fourth in the Walk Trot Canter.
The team will be idle until March 24 when it competes at the University of Virginia. The show begins at 10:00 a.m.
