Equestrian Takes First Place at Home Show

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph Equestrian team hosted its lone home show of 2019 on Sunday. The WildCats came out on top out of eight teams that competed with a total of 42 points.

The 'Cats had several top performances on the day. Kirby Tidmore (Nashville, Tenn.) took first in the Open Flat. Molly McLaughlin (Owings, Md./Northern) claimed the blue ribbon in Intermediate Fences and would be the Reserve High Point Rider.

Michelle Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) was first in the Intermediate Flat with McLaughlin also winning her class. McLaughlin was the High Point Rider on the afternoon. Smith was also second in Intermediate Flat as well as Taylor Price. Price came in fourth in Novice Flat while Elizabeth Bearisto (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was third and Adelle Novak (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) was sixth.

Competing in his first IHSA competition, David Mathews won the Beginner Walk Trot Canter. Katie Brown (Winchester, Va./James Wood) won her class in Walk Trot and qualified for regionals in the process.

Randolph will compete at Bridgewater next Saturday.
