Softball Set for Pivotal Week, Including Senior Day

LYNCHBURG, VA – With almost every Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball team having only three doubleheaders left (one has four, two have two), the Randolph College softball team will begin a pivotal week as the ODAC tournament nears.  The WildCats will play two conference twin bills, with the second one being especially important for the team.

The 'Cats (21-13 overall, 6-8 ODAC) begin the week on Tuesday, making the short trip to Lynchburg College (25-9, 10-4).  This should be one of the top battles of the season, as the crosstown rivalry is always special.  However, this year, the teams have played several common opponents in and out of the conference.  Over that span, LC is 10-6, while Randolph is 9-6.  In addition, each team has players all over the top of the leaderboards in major statistics.  Lindsey Chaney is fourth in the ODAC in strikeouts with 79, while Conner English is right behind with 76.  Lauren Morris is second in batting average, hitting at a clip of .455.  Skyler Dickens is third at .446.  Game one of the excitement begins at 3 p.m.

On Saturday, the WildCats host Guilford College (24-10, 9-5) in what will be a busy day at Randolph.  The twin bill begins at 3 p.m., as there will be a track meet going on as well.  However, the later than usual weekend start will not dim the important festivities.  Prior to the game, the team will honor four seniors – first baseman Hunter Glavé, outfielder Ashley Dudding, pitcher Maggie Goldberg, and manager Tristan Hartle – for all they have contributed to the team in the past four years.  With that special moment happening and the fact that these two contests will have a lot of say in the standings, the games on Saturday should provide lots of intrigue.
