LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph softball team hosted Emory and Henry on Saturday afternoon. The Wasps took both games of the doubleheader with scores of 3-0 and 6-0.

Emory and Henry moves to 19-11 overall and 9-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Randolph drops to 12-17-1 and 3-11 in the ODAC.

E&H pitcher Cameron Derr, who came into today's game with 79 strikeouts to rank second in the conference in that category, tossed a no-hitter as she struck out 11 WildCats over the course of seven innings. She walked four.

All three Wasp runs came in the top of the third inning. Other than those blemishes, starting pitcher Lindsey Chaney (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant School) gave up just three hits while walking two and striking out six.

The second game was a similar pitching duel with the game scoreless through four innings. Both Randolph starting pitcher Abbi Pannill (Prince George, Va./Prince George) and Wasp starter Alex Braun tossed four hitless innings. Pannill picked up the first out of the fifth inning but gave up a walk and then a RBI double to Rachel Smoot got E&H on the board. A second out was recorded. A wild pitch scored Smoot and another wild pitch scored a third run as the visitors went ahead 3-0.

Briana Harbison (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) broke up the no-hit bid by Braun with a leadoff single in the fifth. A Taylor Craft (Altavista, Va./Altavista) walk put runners on first and second with no outs. Rachel Lee's (Clifton, Va./Centreville) sacrifice bunt moved Harbison to third and pinch runner Sarah Reed (Luray, Va.Luray) to second. Both runners would be stranded as Blair Epperson (Nathalie, Va./William Campbell) struck out and Delaney Nuckols (Rockville, Va./Patrick Henry) grounded out to end the half inning.

The Wasps added a run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh. Braun finished with 13 strikeouts and walked four. Pannill gave up five earned runs on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Randolph hosts Shenandoah tomorrow afternoon. Game times will be at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
