ASHLAND, Va.- On Sunday afternoon, the Randolph softball team played its final regular season doubleheader of the season against host Randolph-Macon. The results did not go the WildCats’ way as the Yellow Jackets won both games by scores of 8-0 in six innings and 10-1 in five innings.
HARRISONBURG, Va.- It took three extra innings but in the end, the Randolph softball team was victorious. The WildCats took the first game of a doubleheader over host Eastern Mennonite 8-7 on Saturday in 10 innings.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Nadia Tibbs (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) stepped to the plate with the hopes of bringing home the potential game-winning run for Randolph Softball. Tibbs did just that as her single to right field plated the winning run for the WildCats as they defeated Salem 3-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph softball team recognized its five graduating seniors on Sunday afternoon as the WildCats hosted Shenandoah. Four of those seniors played in role in Randolph 3-2 win over the Hornets in the first game.
MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Randolph softball team traveled south to North Carolina for a non-conference doubleheader with Pfieffer on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons, who are currently in first place in the USA South standings, were a tough matchup for the WildCats as they took both games by the scores of 10-2 and 5-0.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph and Ferrum squared off on Saturday in a key ODAC doubleheader. Both games were nail biters as the teams split. The Panthers won 5-4 in the first game and the ‘Cats claimed the second game 3-2.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- Coming into this afternoon’s doubleheader with #15 Lynchburg, pitcher Lindsey Chaney (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) needed two strikeouts to move into first place all-time in the Randolph softball record book. Chaney was able to accomplish the feat despite Randolph falling to the Hornets 3-0.
SALEM, Va.- Randolph softball traveled to Salem to face Roanoke in an ODAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the James Moyer Softball Complex. The Maroons claimed both games by scores of 10-2 and 4-3.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- Starting pitcher Lindsey Chaney (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant School) pitched her third shutout of the season as the Randolph softball team defeated Bridgewater 8-0 in their first game on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, Chaney improves to 7-0 on the season and is the first WildCat pitcher to do so since Kristen Hutchinson in 2013.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph softball was back on the field on Sunday afternoon as it hosted Guilford in an ODAC doubleheader. The Quakers took the first game 5-4 with the WildCats coming back and winning the second game 3-2.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Randolph softball team began Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon against defending ODAC and National Champion Virginia Wesleyan. The Marlins won the doubleheader by scores of 10-1 and 4-1.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph softball team hosted Wilson College in a game rescheduled from Saturday. Starting pitcher Abbi Pannill went the distance for the WildCats are she limited the Phoenix to two runs in a 9-2 Randolph win. The second game was ruled a 4-4 tie after six innings of play due to darkness.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph softball hosted Mary Baldwin on Sunday afternoon on a mild day at the Randolph softball complex. The Fighting Squirrels took the first game 7-5 while the WildCats rebounded to win the second game 4-2.
PLANT CITY, FLA.- The Randolph softball team wrapped up its time in Florida on Tuesday afternoon and with rain playing havoc with the schedule, the WildCats game with Worcester Polytechnic Institute was pushed to 3:00 p.m. and its scheduled contest with Muskingum cancelled. The WildCats would end their trip on a winning note as they defeated the Engineers 9-2.
PLANT CITY, FLA.- The Randolph softball team competed on the second day of its Spring Break trip in Florida on Monday. The WildCats defeated Aurora 5-3 in 10 innings and fell to Ohio Northern 10-1 in six innings.
TITUSVILLE, Fla.- The Randolph softball team began its six-game Florida trip on Sunday as the WildCats played Heidelberg and Simmons. The ’Cats defeated the Student Princes 6-3 and fell to the Sharks 12-3 in five innings.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph softball team hosted Southern Virginia for its first home doubleheader of the season on Wednesday afternoon. The WildCats shutout the Knights in both games 3-0 and 7-0. The win improve the ‘Cats record to 4-1 and is their best start through five games since 2012.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- With rain forecasted in the area through the weekend, Randolph softball's home opener doubleheader against Southern Virginia tomorrow has been postponed. Both games will now be played on Wednesday at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
SALEM, N.C.- The Randolph softball team began its 2019 season at the Salem College Tournament on Saturday. While its scheduled opener with the host Spirits was called off, the WildCats got their game in with Frostburg an hour later than planned. The wait didn’t seem to bother the ‘Cats as they defeated the Bobcats 10-4.
LYNCHBURG, Va.- While last season ultimately fell short of expectations, the Randolph softball team did find itself qualifying for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament as the seventh seed. The team is much different than it was from the end of the last year as 11 players depart including eight seniors. It will be a younger squad in 2019 with 10 underclassmen (including seven first-years) making up the roster.
SALEM, Va.- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2019 softball preseason poll on Wednesday afternoon. Randolph was picked 10th with 23 points, one spot ahead of Shenandoah, and four points behind Bridgewater.
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association in collaboration with Easton recognized over 6,200 softball players across high school, Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College with the distinction of Scholar-Athletes. Randolph College was represented by Taylor Craft, Kate Hodgkiss, Jordyn Knapp, Courtney Lucado, and Lauren Morris.
ANNANDALE, Va.- On Thursday afternoon, the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the 2018 College Division All-State softball team. Randolph designated player Lauren Morris (Troy, N.C./West Montgomery) was selected to the Second Team.
FOREST, Va.- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) on Tuesday released its All-Conference Awards. Randolph senior designated player Lauren Morris (Troy, N.C./West Montgomery) was named to the First Team.
