The Randolph College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our WildCat of the Week. The 10th student-athlete selected for the year is women's basketball player Alexis Calloway.
Calloway had a big week for the WildCats, helping the team to a 2-1 record, with the one loss coming in heartbreaking, overtime fashion. Over the three games she averaged 9.0 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. In addition she posted career-highs in points (15) and rebounds (14) in the win over Methodist University. It was her first career double-double and she was named to the Jean Edge All-Classic Team.
You tallied your first-career double-double and was named to the Jean Edge Classic All-Tournament Team. How does that performance by yourself and your team get you ready for the rest of the year?
I think the performance by my team this weekend showed that we are able to compete with tougher teams and gave us the confidence we need going forward.
What have you gained from being a part of this program?
I have gained a family that will always have my back no matter what is going on.
What is your favorite thing about Randolph College?
My favorite thing about Randolph college is the small school setting and traditions that the school carries.
What are your goals following graduation and how has being a part of this team and institution helped you so far?
I hope to find a coaching job as well as get my masters. My experience so far at Randolph has helped me in many different ways including teamwork and time management.
Anything else you would like to add:
I would also like to thank God, my family and my Wildcat family for making this past weekend a success. I was going through a lot and could not have made it without them.
