Women’s Basketball Falls to Virginia Wesleyan, 70-37, in ODAC Action

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Randolph College women's basketball team dropped a 70-37 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision to host Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.

Despite landing first on the scoreboard, the Marlins took hold of the lead and never looked back as they outscored the WildCats in each period to ultimately secure the final 70-37 tally.

In spite of the loss, Randolph held a 46-39 edge in rebounds. Sarah Wright (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) posted eight points and six rebounds off the bench for the WildCats while Breyanna Rice (Wake Forest, N.C./Heritage) recorded seven points and five rebounds and Maura McMahon (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) added five points. Kalyn Banks (Clinton, Md./From The Heart Christian School) pulled down a team-high eight boards and tallied four points while Lauren Moore (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) also posted four points to go along with four assists and one block. 

Jayla Harris led the Marlins with 19 points while Naeemah Morris and Raya Berkley posted six rebounds apiece.

Randolph drops to 4-12, 1-7 ODAC and returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24 when it travels to Bridgewater College for a 7 p.m. conference match-up.
