Women's Basketball Drops 66-48 ODAC Decision at Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, Va.Mikayla Sink (Lexington, N.C./Central Davidson) and Kalyn Banks (Clinton, Md./From the Heart Christian School) each put up 14 points as the Randolph College women's basketball team fell to host and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Washington and Lee University, 66-48, on Wednesday evening. 

Despite a relatively close opening quarter, the Generals held a 15-10 advantage heading into the second period. Although Washington and Lee continued to remain in the lead, the WildCats were never far behind and ended up trailing the Generals, 30-21, at halftime. 

Coming out of the break, Washington and Lee found its momentum and outplayed the WildCats, 23-18, in the third quarter to increase its lead to 59-31 before outscoring Randolph, 13-9, in the final period to clinch the 66-48 victory. 

Sink converted 4-of-17 shots from the field and 4-of-10 shots from three-point range while Banks connected 5-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the line to go along with four steals and eight rebounds. Yanessa Cabrera (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) pulled down a team-high nine boards and dished out four assists in the loss.

Randolph drops to 4-16, 2-11 ODAC and are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 2 when it heads to Shenandoah University for a 2 p.m. conference contest.
