First Road Trip a Success for Women's Lacrosse at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Randolph earned a 12-9 victory this afternoon, moving to 2-1 on the season. 

After the teams split the first two goals of the game, Randolph scored eight straight, putting Methodist (1-4) in a deep hole.

Junior Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) had a goal on each of her five shots, adding an assist for six points.

In the team's first game this season, she tied a program record with 10 points, including six goals.

First-year Erin Campbell (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) and senior Melanie Eisele (Kennett Square, Pa./Sanford School) had a pair of goals each.

Sophomore Taylor Riccardi (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge Co.), senior Ashley Edwards (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) and first-year Megan Graham (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) each struck once.

Riccardi had three assists, as well. Campbell and first-year Addie Moore (Fairfield,Va./Rockbridge County) had one. 

Methodist scored seven of the final eight goals of the game, putting a scare into the WildCats and making the scoreline much closer than early play indicated, but ran out of time late.

Junior Samantha Fagone (Bayshore, N.Y./Bayshore), fresh off of a record-setting effort in terms of saves, stopped nine of the first 10 Methodist shots on goal, finishing with 16 saves.

Her 37 saves are the most by any goalie in any two consecutive games in program history.

First-year Leah Hughes (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) led Randolph with five draw controls. Riccardi had four ground balls.

Randolph moves to 2-2 all-time against the Monarchs, winning two straight. 

It is the team's best start through three games in program history.

The team will next host three straight contests, starting with Southern Virginia on Thursday.
