'Cats Fall Against Nationally-Ranked Generals
LEXINGTON, VA – The Randolph College women's lacrosse team took on the second-ranked team in the country, Washington and Lee University, on Saturday. The Generals were able to win the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tilt, 22-1.
W&L showed early on why it is one of the best teams in the country. The Generals were able to take a quick lead, and extended it to 6-0. However, the WildCats defense made a couple of nice plays against the top team in the conference, as Katie Jones forced a turnover. Anna Belliveau then made three big saves stopping further action.
Randolph started strong out of the intermission. The 'Cats forced a turnover, and had a successful clear. Tyrah Cobb-Davis was then fouled as she dodged near the goal and was awarded a free position shot. She rifled it home for the goal.
Belliveau continued her strong play in net, as she stopped four more attempts late in the second half. However, the Generals earned the 22-1 victory.
Belliveau finished the game with seven saves. Carson Pinney and Lauren Procaccino each tallied four goals for Washington and Lee (14-1 overall, 8-0 ODAC).
Randolph (3-13, 0-8) concludes its season with the game against the Generals. It also sees the end of the career for Taylor Gamble, Leah Hughes, and Marciniak. The three leave having set an important mark on the program.
