GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team faced Guilford in their Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. The Quakers scored seven times in the second half to break open the game and win by the final score of 20-4.
Randolph's overall record stands at 1-5 and 0-1 in the ODAC. Guilford is 5-4 and 1-1 in the league.
The Quakers raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first half. The WildCats got on the board with back-to-back free position goals by Hannah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) and Rachel Buxton (Sterling, Va.) exactly a minute apart to cut the score to 7-2. After the Quakers netted two scores to restore their seven-goal advantage, Bradley scored on an assist from Nicole Dorton (Alexandria, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) to make it 9-3. Guilford upped its lead to 13-3 before Buxton scored again as the halftime lead stood at 13-4 in the Quakers' favor.
Guilford held Randolph to just four shots in the second half. Overall, the Quakers held a 39-15 lead in shots.
Buxton and Bradley accounted for the WildCat scoring with two goals each. Buxton has scored in the last five games while Bradley has a goal in all six games this season. Dorton's assist runs her point streak to five games.
Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) stopped nine shots in goal. She picked up five groundballs. Bradley scooped up four groundballs on the day.
Randolph returns home to face Southern Virginia in a non-conference match on Tuesday. Game time from WildCat Stadium will be at 5:00 p.m.
