The Randolph College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our WildCat of the Week. The 5th student-athlete selected this year is women's soccer player Maggie Croft.
Croft was very instrumental in the only game for the WildCats this week. In that 9-0 win over Johnson & Wales University, Croft scored two goals and added an assist. She applied pressure throughout the game, and was the WildCat whose attack led to the own goal.
You scored two goals and assisted on another in the win over JWU, how does that performance set you and your teammates up for an important week of ODAC play?
I think we played very well against JWU, and with pace. Pace and accuracy is our key to success. The games that we have played with both of those factors, we have won. Competing in the ODAC is no easy task, but as long as we play with our hearts, this week should go smoothly and end with positive results.
What is your favorite thing about Randolph College?
My favorite thing about Randolph is the campus and small community. It's beautiful, and even though it's small, there is always something fun to get in to.
How has being a student-athlete affected you?
It has both stressed me out entirely and made me love college more than I could have ever imagined. Being busy with practices and games forces me to stay on top of my assignments and ahead of due dates; things that I would probably procrastinate on without soccer being in the picture.
What is your favorite thing about Randolph College women's soccer?
I love my team... there will always be disagreements and people you bicker with, but they're family. Sometimes you argue with family and get annoyed, but they are always the people you go back to. You work, care, and cheer for them, no matter what.
