CARY, N.C.- Looking for their first win on the season, the Randolph women's soccer team traveled down to North Carolina for a Tuesday night non-conference match with William Peace. The WildCats dominated the Pacers with a 4-0 victory.
The WildCats controlled the match from the onset as William Peace was held to just one shot in the first half. Despite the wide discrepancy in shots, the Pacers kept Randolph off the board for most of the period. The WildCats were finally able to break through with just over four minutes left in the frame. Sarah Stultz (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) fired a shot that was deflected by William Peace goalkeeper Jackie Yanez and Sam Hablas (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) was there to collect the rebound and put the shot into the back of the net as the visiting WildCats went into the break ahead 1-0.
Randolph upped its lead to 2-0 just over a minute into the second stanza. Patricia Garrett's (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox County) shot from outside the penalty box went past Yanez and in. Almost three and half minutes later, Delaney Doyle (Gloucester, Pa./Gloucester) snuck a shot in just inside the box to increase the Wildcat advantage to 3-0. Doyle would strike again a little over two minutes for her second goal of the night to make it a 4-0 score.
Randolph led in total shots 32-4 with 15 coming on goal. Corners were also in its favor 7-0.
The WildCats host Marymount (Va.) this Saturday in their home opener. Game time from WIldCat Stadium will be at 1:00 p.m.
