LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team hosted their first game of the season on Saturday afternoon against Marymount (Va.) Despite being outshot by a 2-to-1 margin, the WildCats held their own and drew a 2-2 decision with the Saints.

The contest didn't have the makings of a high-scoring affair early in the first half. Through over 20 minutes of play, Randolph was able to get three shots off to just two for the visitors. The WildCats were able to break through in the 22nd minute as Delaney Doyle (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) scored on a helper by Hunter Robinson (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River/Slidell) to give the 'Cats the 1-0 advantage.

Marymount started to pick up some momentum as it attacked the Randolph zone. Karen Reyes got the equalizer as she snuck a shot past WildCats goalie Stephanie Quirk (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and in to tie the game at 1-1 in the 31st minute.

In the second half, Quick came up with three saves to keep the Saints at bay. Marymount nearly had a score at 57:30 but Gretel Bonilla's attempt glanced off of the post. Reyes was able to get past the right of Quick just over six minutes later for a 2-1 lead.

The 'Cats responded as Doyle scored her second of the day in the 70th minute. She was able to beat Saints goalkeeper Sydney Sherman one-on-one and deposit into the back of the net.

Both teams had shots on goal inside of the final 10 minutes of the half but were turned away. Randolph's opportunity came in the 87th minute by Robinson.

In the first overtime, the WildCats were held without a shot attempt. Marymount was able to get four attempts off but Quick denied every one. Neither team had a shot in the second extra period.

The Saints finished with a 22-10 advantage in shots and 10-2 in corner kicks. Quick finished with 14 saves for her most since stopping 14 shots against Roanoke last season. Sherman had five saves for the Saints.

Randolph is home this coming Wednesday September 13 when it hosts Averett. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
