BUENA VISTA, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team held a 1-0 lead for 67 minutes of game time but host Southern Virginia tallied a late score and then won with 51 seconds remaining in overtime to come out with a 2-1 win on Tuesday night at Knights Stadium. The loss drops the WIldCats to 2-3-1 while the Knights move to 2-4-1.

The Knights came out firing in the first half with four shots in 13:34 of game time. It was Randolph, however, that struck first as Delaney Doyle (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season on an assist from Sam Hablas (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) in the 17th minute to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead. Southern Virginia led 7-1 in total shots but it was Randolph that led at halftime.

The Knights continued to attack in the second half but WildCat starting goalkeeper Quinn-Lynn Bates (Culpepper, Va./Culpepper County) was able to come up with several key stops. Randolph nearly had its second goal of the night but Hunter Robinson's (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River/Slidell) shot hit the crossbar in the 64th minute. The Knights got the equalizing goal in the 84th minute.

In overtime, Bates kept Southern Virginia at bay with two saves. With the game less than a minute from another overtime, the Knights' Taylor Mercer's shot hit Bates and bounced into the net for the game-winning score.

Southern Virginia dominated in total shots 23-4. Bates had 11 saves on the evening.

There were only four total corner kicks in the game. Randolph had the edge 3-1.

The WIldCats host Emory and Henry this Saturday to begin ODAC play. Game time is 4:30 p.m. following the men's game at 1:00 p.m. It is Homecoming/Family Weekend.
