SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team didn't need to travel far as it went up to Sweet Briar on Wednesday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams. Playing in her final game as a WildCat, Hunter Robinson (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River/Slidell) scored three times to lead Randolph to a 5-0 victory.
It was the second hat trick for the 'Cats this season. Delaney Doyle (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) had three against John Wesley on September 16.
Robinson scored each of her goals in succession. The first came at 15:01 on a cross from Grace Jennings (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) that finished at the left post. The second came almost two minutes after. Her third occurred at 30:36 as Doyle crossed from the left of the box and Robinson headed the ball into the bottom right corner. Randolph led 3-0 at the half.
Doyle herself also got into the scoring column. At 68:06, she hit a curling shot from the top right of the 18 to the left of the net. The last Randolph goal was an own goal by the Vixens.
Randolph led in total shots 24-1 and in corner kicks 6-0. Both Shelby Lutz (Lynchburg, Va./Brookeville) and Stephanie Quirk (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) saw time in goal with Lutz picking up one save.
The WildCats conclude the 2017 season with a final record of 4-10-2 and a 2-7-1 mark in the ODAC. Sweet Briar finishes at 1-13 and 0-9 in the conference.
