LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Randolph College women's tennis team won five of the six singles flights over Lynchburg College Friday afternoon and rolled to a 7-2 victory in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
In doubles play, Randolph's No. 2 pairing of Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) and Kaitlyn Kolster (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) earned an 8-0 victory, upping their record to 4-1 in conference play. Sophomore Danielle Lewis (Kingston, Jamaica/Immaculate Conception) and Emmalyn Snead (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) also blanked their opponent at No. 3 doubles 8-0.
After the WildCats earned a 2-1 lead going into singles, but LC pulled even at two matches apiece after a forfeit at No. 2 singles. The WildCats would get wins though at No. 3 singles by Anna Culpepper (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) 6-3, 6-4, and No. 1 Dina Velazco (Barquisimeto, Venezuela / Colegio Las Fuertes) earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Kolster evened her seasonal record to 5-5 with a 6-1, 6-4 record at No. 4 singles, while Snead earned a 6-4, 6-2 straight set triumph. Lewis chalked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to finish play.
Randolph (5-3/2-3 ODAC) will host Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday morning at 10 a.m. on the Randolph Tennis Courts in another ODAC match.
