BLUEFIELD, Va. -- The Randolph College women's tennis team dominated singles play en route to a 7-2 non-conference victory over Bluefield College Sunday afternoon.
Randolph (7-5) picked up two wins in doubles action, as sophomores Kaitlyn Kolster (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) and Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) teamed together at No. 1 doubles for an 8-1 victory. First-year Emmalyn Snead (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) and Danielle Lewis (Kingston, Jamaica/Immaculate Conception) earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Tiandre Forde (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellum) and Sarah Cottone (Providence, R.I./Miss Porter's School) played together at No. 3 pairs, dropping their match 8-3.
In individual action, Verdezoto chalked up her third straight victory, blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Anna Culpepper (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) won with ease at No. 2 singles with scores of two and three, while Kolster continued her strong play with a straight set win at No. 3. Snead was a double winner on the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4, while Forde earned her first dual match win of the year at No. 6 singles.
