Track and Field to Compete for Two Days at Roanoke
LYNCHBURG, VA – For the second time this season, the Randolph College indoor track and field teams will head to Salem, VA and Roanoke College for a meet. The Maroons will host the Finn Pincus Invitational on Friday and Saturday, which will once again feature some of the toughest competition in the region.
The last time the 'Cats competed in Salem, the team shined very brightly. It was at the meet in December that the hurdlers, Anthony Quinn and DJ Petty, got off to a strong start that has seen them both win Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Track Athlete of the Week. Matthieu Meyer also started his very successful indoor season that day. He won his heat in the 800-meter race, and finished third-overall in a strong field. He has since broken his previous record, which was also the school record.
The women were very similar at that meet. Trevanna Berryman was outstanding in the shot put. She set the school record and was behind only three DI throwers at the conclusion of the event. Berryman increased her record at the next meet, and still leads the ODAC. Taylor Rama also added a school record in the 3,000-meter race that day, however, she will be unable to compete due to injury.
With those positive results and several other marks at the meet, the WildCats should be in good position to improve this weekend.
