WildCats Set Several PRs at Roanoke College
SALEM, VA – The Randolph College women's indoor track and field competed at Roanoke College and the Finn Pincus Invitational on Saturday. With many of the top DII and DIII teams in the region in attendance, the WildCats impressed and set several personal records.
Jordan Sheets was one of those 'Cats to impress. She broke her previous best in the 60-meter dash, coming in with a time of 8.69. Jalil Penn nearly did the same in the same event, but she missed out by three one-hundredths of a second.
Just as with the previous meet at Christopher Newport University, Sheets and Penn once again set PRs in the 200-meter dash as well. Sheets finished in 19th out of 58 sprinters, coming in at a time of 28.49. Penn was not too far behind, running the race in 29.58.
Michaela Saunders ran in the 800-meter race and posted a time of 2:57.98. Her time had her beat two different runners from Division II schools.
Trevanna Berryman added one of those records in the weight throw. She crushed her previous best by over two feet, finishing third in her flight with a distance of 32'6". Then in the shot put she continued to show why she is one fo the best in the conference and the region. She finished fifth overall, and was only seven inches behind the top thrower from a DIII school (Methodist). The toss of 38'2" also just missed out on a school record.
Next Saturday, Randolph will head to its final indoor meet before the ODAC Championship. The WildCats will travel to the UCS Invitational, which takes place in Winston-Salem, NC.
