SALEM, Va. – The Randolph College women's track and field team finished up its second and final day at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.
Kicking off the running events for the day was the quartet of Alexis VanWinkle, Marlene Redlich, Tiffani Kelly, and Taja Hunley (Dalzell, S.C./Thomas Sumter Academy) who finished the 4x200 meter relay in a time of 2:02.48 to place fifth overall.
In the individual running events, Michaela Saunders (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:44.47 while teammate Ermela Wurgesa (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) followed in 3:00.65.
Jalil Penn (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) ran the fastest time for Randolph in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 29.19 seconds with Kelly and VanWinkle following behind in 30.36 seconds and 31.08 seconds, respectively.
Erin Schriever (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) was the lone Randolph competitor in the 3,000 meter run, posting a time of 15:26.26.
In the field events, Hunley recorded a mark of 4.50m in the long jump before taking second place in the triple jump with a mark of 10.59m. Meghan Chaffins (Temperanceville, Va./Holly Grove Christian) also competed in the long jump and triple jump events, posting a mark of 4.40m and 9.55m, respectively while Marlene Redlich made her collegiate debut with a 15th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 9.32m.
Teliya Stevenson (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) threw the best marks for Randolph in the weight throw and shot put, taking a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.98m while throwing a mark of 10.01m in the shot put. Kayla Wilhelm (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) earned a mark of 11.12m in the weight throw, finishing 12th overall, and a mark of 8.82m in the shot put.
The WildCats will return after winter break to compete at the VMI Keydet Invitational from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 18-19.
