Volleyball Set for First in Seven Years in 2017 Schedule

LYNCHBURG, VA – On Friday, the Randolph College volleyball team released its 2017 schedule.  It features a tough slate, with only eight matches coming at home.  However, the 'Cats will enjoy something at home that the team has not experienced since 2010.

The WildCats begin the season on September 1 at the 23rd Annual Cougar Classic.  Averett University is the host for the four matches Randolph will play over that opening weekend.  The 'Cats begin against Southern Virginia University at 3 p.m. and then face the Cougars at 5 p.m.

After finishing the tournament that Saturday, the WildCats will stay on the road for a single match, at Mary Baldwin University on September 5.  Randolph will take part in the Maroon Classic at Roanoke College the next weekend, playing four more matches over a two-day span.

The team then plays its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest on September 13.  The 'Cats travel to Hollins University for a 7 p.m. match, which will see the 10-game road trip end.

Randolph opens up the RAD Center on September 15 against ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan University.  It is the first of three-straight at home, with fellow ODAC schools Randolph-Macon College and Washington and Lee University coming to the Hill City over the following five days.

After a two-match ODAC road trip, the WildCats return home for four contests.  Ferrum College is the first, coming to Rivermont Avenue on October 5.  Two days later, the 'Cats will host their first tri-match in seven years.  Emory & Henry College will be the first opponent, with that match coming at noon.  E&H will then take on Regent University, and Regent will square off with Randolph to end the day.

The homestand ends on October 10 against Roanoke, and another road swing begins.  The WildCats will play seven away, including two tri-matches during that streak.  The last match away from Randolph will also be the final ODAC tilt of the year.  Lynchburg College will be the opponent on October 27.  The 'Cats close out the regular season the next day, hosting North Carolina Wesleyan College at 1 p.m.
