Michelle Melendez Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Former Liberty University volleyball player, Michelle Melendez, has joined the Randolph College Athletics Department as the new assistant volleyball coach. 

"I am thrilled to add Coach Meech to our coaching staff," stated head volleyball coach Kara Matthews. "She has had playing experience at a high level and been involved in coaching for many years. She is passionate about the game and mentoring athletes in all aspects of life."  

Melendez played two seasons for the Flames as a defensive specialist where she registered 474 digs, 52 assists and 20 service aces and served as team captain for her senior campaign.

Prior to her time at Liberty, Melendez was standout player at Palm Beach State College in her hometown of Miami, Fla. where she earned Second-Team All-Conference and FCSAA All-Academic Team accolades.

Melendez brings along a history of coaching young children and club teams, as well as working camps for her alma mater. Melendez currently coaches at the Beach South Volleyball Club where she teaches and trains beach volleyball skills with girls between the ages of 12 and 16.

Melendez graduated from Liberty University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in developmental psychology and is currently pursuing a Master's of Arts in teaching with an emphasis in special education.
