Women’s Cross Country Picked 10th in ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – The Randolph College women's cross country team earned 33 points and was predicted to finish 10th in the league in the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason poll, released Wednesday by the conference office.

Two-time defending champion Washington & Lee University tops the poll with 10 first-place votes and 120 points. Roanoke College takes second place honors with 95 points while Eastern Mennonite University sits right behind in third place with 92 points. Bridgewater College and Lynchburg College each scooped up one first-place vote to tie for fourth with 91 points.

Despite losing top runner Taylor Rama, the WildCats will see the return of Sophia Dill who finished second for Randolph at the 2016 ODAC Championships, posting a time of 31:46.4, and earned the fastest 6k time of the season (28:41.8) at the Gettysburg Invitational.

Randolph opens its 2017 season on Sept. 1 at the ODAC Preview Meet hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University and will host the Virginia 4-Miler, the WildCats' lone home meet, on Sept. 23.
