VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Randolph College women's cross country kicked off its 2017 at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Preview hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday evening where the WildCats finished third out of three teams.
Liz Beairsto (Bowie, Md./Bowie) led the way for Randolph on the six-kilometer course, clocking in a time of 28:44.13 for an overall fifth-place finish while Sophia Dill (Glencoe, N.C./Western Alamance) followed right behind to post a time of 29:28.47, good enough for sixth-place.
Jordan Sheets (Lewisville, N.C./Ronald W. Reagan), Leo Galopin (Rye Brook, N.Y./Ethel Walker) and Jalil Penn (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) finished in sequence and rounded out the field with Sheets locking down a time of 33:59.09 while Galopin and Penn clocked in at 35:00.19 and 43:02.48, respectively.
The host Marlins won the team competition with Emily Latimer winning the individual title.
The WildCats return to action on Friday, Sept. 15 when they compete in the Adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C.
